MARION – It was quite a baseball season for Marion’s Aden Yowell.

Yowell was a senior All-Conference and All-District pitcher who was 10-1 on the season.

“The key was hard work and good practices,” Yowell said concerning the success of a baseball team which won West Michigan D League and district titles.

Yowell was a third baseman, shortstop and pitcher for the championship Marion team.

As a pitcher, “I’ve been decent,” Yowell said. “I threw a no-hitter against Bear Lake. My strength has probably been consistently throwing strikes.”

All season long, Yowell was among Marion’s top hitters.

“The key is not pulling your head but just keeping your head in and watching the ball,” Yowell said, adding he got a key hit in the championship game at home. “The key is always going to practices, showing up on time and working hard.”

The only regular season losses were to Reed City and Charlevoix.

For Marion, Yowell also played football, baseball and track at Marion. Football was his favorite but baseball is definitely up there.
