Two top county health officialssubmit resignations

ALLEGAN – Allegan County Board of Commissioners chairman James Storey announced two longtime county employees in key positions sent emails recently announcing resignations from their respective positions.
“Angelique Joynes advised Board of Commissioners members that she would be leaving her position as county health officer and head of the county’s health department at the end of January,” Storey said. “The vacant position will be advertised on the county website while future decisions are considered. Dr. Joyce deJong, the county’s medical examiner, announced her resignation from that position to become Dean of the School of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University.
“Dr. deJong had served 12 Michigan counties as medical examiner from offices within Western Michigan University’s Medical School since 2014. She has been a leader within her profession as recognized by her peers. Dr. deJong recommended the Board of Commissioners confirm her deputy, Dr. Patrick Hansma, to succeed her.”
