Mitchell buries five threes in Paw Paw girls’ win over Three Rivers

The Paw Paw girls basketball team was able to pick up a nice road Wolverine Conference win on Friday. The Lady Red Wolves took down host Three Rivers, 50-33.
Three Rivers led the game 11-9 after the first quarter, but Paw Paw surged ahead 24-17 at the half and also led 43-33 entering the fourth.
They had a big game from Grace Mitchell, as she buried five threes and finished with 15 points, Savanna Rickli netted 11, Avery Vogel scored nine points and AJ Rickli was able to score seven points.
On Tuesday, Jan. 10 Paw Paw dominated visiting Bloomingdale to pick up a 72-28 victory.
The Red Wolves carried leads of 31-3, 54-12 and 62-20 after the quarter breaks.
Mitchell knocked down six threes and had 24 points, AJ Rickli had 19 points and Katelyn Baney added seven points.
Paw Paw (6-4 overall) was at home against Edwardsburg on Tuesday, makes the trip to Otsego on Friday and heads to Allegan on Tuesday.

Paw Paw boys fall to Three Rivers, top Lawrence

The Paw Paw boys basketball team traveled to Three Rivers on Friday, to take part in a Wolverine Conference game. The Red Wolves came up short in the road game however, on a score of 79-63.
Truman Brennan led the way for the Red Wolves with 19 points, Ashton Toliver netted 13, Ayden Roth scored 12 and Troy Vandenberg put in 10.
On Tuesday, Jan. 10 Paw Paw traveled to Lawrence for the two program’s first ever meeting. The Red Wolves came away as winners in this one, 60-40. They were led by Roth with 18 points and Brennan poured in 15 points.
Paw Paw (3-5 overall) played at Edwardsburg on Tuesday, heads to Otsego on Friday and returns home to play Allegan on Tuesday.

Mattawan boys take down Lakeshore to remain unbeaten

The Mattawan boys basketball team continue to meet each challenge thrown their way. On Thursday, playing at home against Stevensville Lakeshore, Mattawan was able to notch a 42-27 victory.
Noah Vanlaningham led the way with 13 points and three steals, Will Kuiper had a big 13 point and two steal performance, Ryan Kiesling had 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks, Brenan Garza added three points and four assists and Luke Willis had three points and tracked down four rebounds.
On Tuesday, Jan. 10 Mattawan defeated visiting Plainwell, 65-41.
Vanlaningham was able to score 20 points and get seven rebounds and four steals, Connor Walsh had 10 points and five rebounds, Ryan Van Liere had seven points and four assists, Kiesling had seven points, 15 rebounds and three assists and Brendan Garza added seven points and three assists.
Mattawan (8-0 overall) was at Battle Creek Central on Tuesday, heads to Richland Gull Lake on Friday and hosts Kalamazoo Central on Tuesday.

Lawton boys drop games to Hackett, South Haven

The Lawton boys basketball team lost a road game at Kalamazoo Hackett on Friday, 51-35.
The Blue Devils were led by Aiden O’Brien with 12 points and Parker VanPeteghem was able to net 11 points.
The Blue Devils also lost to South Haven on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 53-30.
Lawton (4-4 overall) was at home against Dowagiac on Tuesday, heads to Parchment on Friday and returns home to play Holland Black River on Tuesday.

Lawrence boys breeze by Bloomingdale

The Lawrence boys basketball team had little trouble with visiting Bloomingdale on Friday. The Tigers led by 20 points after the first quarter and never looked back, claiming a 70-19 conference win.
They led 24-4 after the first, 41-13 at the half and 62-15 entering the fourth.
The Tigers were led by Zander Payment with 12 points, Christian Smith and Noel Saldana each put in 10, John Schuman and Gabe Gonzalez netted nine points apiece, scoring eight each was Andy Bowen and Ben McCaw and Tim Coombs was able to score three points.
Lawrence (4-3 overall) was at home against Marcellus on Tuesday, heads to Decatur on Friday and heads to Comstock on Monday for a make-up contest. The Tigers will also make the trip to Mendon on Tuesday.

Bloomingdale hands Lawrence girls conference setback

The Lawrence girls basketball team welcomed in Bloomingdale on Friday for a conference game. The Lady Tigers weren’t able to hang with their opponents however, as they lost the contest, 55-38.
Kaylee Stroud led the team with 17 points and Addison Gendron was able to chip in with seven points.
Lawrence (5-4 overall) played at Marcellus on Tuesday, heads to Decatur on Friday, plays at home in a make-up game with Comstock on Monday and plays another home game on Tuesday against Mendon.

Gobles boys continue to look for first win

The Gobles boys basketball team was in striking near the end of their road conference game at Black River on Friday. They couldn’t quite get over the hump however, as they remain winless with a 52-42 loss.
“We put together a valiant effort and fell short in the end,” head coach Scott Sherrod said. “With two minutes left in the game, we found ourselves down five and having to foul to extend the game. Black River hit some free throws to extend the lead to 10 by the end of the game.”
Tristan Harbaugh led the team with 10 points and six steals, Tony Lisowski had 10 points and five steals and Aden Newberry added nine points and four blocks.
On Tuesday, Jan. 10 Gobles lost a road conference game at Decatur, 41-21.
“We played very well defensively, but our shots just wouldn’t fall,” Sherrod said. “We continue to build our team chemistry and look to start capitalizing on a more manageable portion of our schedule.”
Harbaugh led the team with eight points and 10 rebounds and Lisowski was able to chip in with six points.
Gobles (0-10 overall) played at home against Coloma on Tuesday, stays at home to take on Galesburg-Augusta on Friday and is home again on Tuesday against Bloomingdale.

Gobles girls get road win at Black River

The Gobles girls basketball team picked up a well-played road conference win at Black River on Friday. The Lady Tigers claimed it with a score of 34-20.
Kennadi Killeen led the way with 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals. Kaya Huizenga added seven points and 10 rebounds, Deanna Wood had six points, four steals and three assists, Charlotte Zantello had six points and six rebounds and Erica Barber had three points, three rebounds and five steals.
Gobles (6-4 overall) played at Allegan on Tuesday, hosts Galesburg-Augusta on Friday and makes the trip to Bloomingdale on Tuesday.
