Sheriff’s office shows off new canine

PAW PAW – Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott has announced the newest addition to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
K-9 Jett will be partnered with Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputy Devin Krogel. K-9 Jett is a 14-month half-German Shepard and half-Belgian Malinois. K-9 Jett received his name after Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputy James Allen Lear, who tragically passed away Dec. 10, 2021. “Deputy Lear earned the nickname of “Jett” and when there was a task to be completed, he would “Jet” out of the office without hesitation,” said Sheriff Abbott.
He added, “I am proud to carry on Deputy Lear’s work ethic and dedication to public service through K-9 Jett, who will no doubt make the citizens of Van Buren County proud.”
