Sheriff’s office issues citations to drivers in road construction project

PINE GROVE TWP. – Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reported that the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Van Buren County Road Commission regarding a construction project on County Road 388 in Pine Grove Township between 26 th Street and 29 th Street.
Road Commission employees reported that traffic was disregarding the road closure signs and traveling through the construction zone, creating a hazard for workers. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office secondary road patrol performed extra enforcement in this area to encourage motorists to drive safely and follow the posted construction signs. During enforcement on Sept. 21, 15 traffic stops were made on motorists for violations related to the construction zone. Nine citations were issued for various violations to these motorists.
