A quick start set the tone for the Saugatuck girls soccer team in its SAC contest against Parchment on Friday, April 14.
The Trailblazers jumped out to a 4-0 lead at halftime before adding two more goals in the second half to claim the 6-0 win.
Adele Nieuwsma and Iris Kuipers led Saugatuck’s offensive charge, with each scoring multiple goals. Nieuwsma scored three times, with Kuipers finding the back of the net twice.
Neave Rewa also scored in the win. Eva Kierzek and Meave Wrenn added one assist each.
Kennedy Gustafson and Grace Greenwood shared time in goal to combine for the shutout.
The win upped Saugatuck’s record to 3-1.
Three days earlier, Saugatuck used a total-team effort to prevail in its match with Constantine.
Six different Trailblazers scored at least one goal as the Trailblazers earned the 8-0 win on Tuesday, April 11.
Kuipers and Gustafson led the scoring attack with two goals each. Mia Zerfas, Rewa, Nieuwsma and Haley Rivera each added one goal.
Nieuwsma and Kuipers also had an assist, as did Jenn Schock and Erin Moerler.
Greenwood played in goal for Saugatuck and recorded the shutout.
