For the first time in more than two decades, the City of Plainwell has a new city manager.
And residents will soon have the opportunity to meet him.
Justin Lakamper will be at the Plainwell City Hall Council Chambers from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, for a meet and greet.
Prior to taking the city manager position in Plainwell, Lakamper served as village manger in Edmore for four years. His final day in Edmore was June 8.
“Justin has worked both in the public and private sectors internationally and in the U.S., brining vast experience in problem solving with the ability to manage the needs of multiple projects and stakeholders effectively,” the City of Plainwell said in a release.
Lakamper takes over for Eric Wilson, who held the city manager position in Plainwell from 2002 until his resignation in February. Wilson is now the Texas Township superintendent.
Incidentally, Lakamper joined Wilson as one of four finalists for the job in Texas Township. Adam Kline and Haley Snyder were the other two finalists.
Welcome to our friendly Island City Justin. After some 50 years here, we still simply love our quality of life, our people and our beautiful landscapes. 👍🎉‼️
