PAW PAW – Newly appointed Paw Paw Township Supervisor Tom Palenick announced on Monday, Feb. 26, that Paw Paw Township was the recipient of a recent MSHDA grant Under the Housing Readiness program. Palenick had applied for the grant two weeks ago.
“Two weeks ago, we applied for a MSHDA grant Under the Housing Readiness program. Today, I was advised we received a grant for $44,000,” said Palenick.
According to Palenick, the purpose of the grant is to review and update the Master Plan for Paw Paw Township.
Palenick said, “In doing so, identify areas suitable for affordable housing and initiate ordinance and/or zoning amendment changes where possible, to compliment those areas in providing more affordable housing in Paw Paw Township. This funding can be used in multiple ways which includes research, surveys and to pay for special meetings etc. where needed to improve and update our Master Plan and low-income housing concerns.”
Palenick concluded, “Part of this funding will be used by our very dedicated Township Planning Commission in pursuit of this goal. Grant funding starts May 1, and is valid for two years from that date.”
