Two area high school robotics teams were in competition in events held across the state this past weekend. 2PawR (Robotics) 5462 traveled to Saline High School where they competed in First Robotics Competition (FRC), while the Mattawan WiredCats, FRC Team 5675, competed at Grand Valley State University (GVSU).
2PawR was one of 40 schools with over 1,400 students who took part in the two-day competition. The team advanced to the semifinal round of championship matches before bowing out. The team did receive the Team Spirit Award.
The Mattawan WiredCats FRC Team 5675 did very well overall with a qualifying record of 7-4-1 but were defeated in the quarterfinal round of championship matches.
The team had a great experience, winning the Gracious Professionalism Award which is given to the team that best promotes FIRST’s core values of working together both on and off the field while still being fierce competitors.
The robot and drive team performed great during matches. Team 5675 was the top scoring team of the competition.
Because of the stellar performances at both qualifying competitions, the WiredCats are now qualified for the state championships that will be held April 13-16 at Saginaw Valley State University.
In recent robotics competition, Lawton’s Counter-Torque Robotics 6588 traveled to Allendale for a FIRST West Michigan event. The team reached the semifinals.
