In the 2003 hit Pixar movie “Finding Nemo,” it’s the little clownfish’s father Marlin and his friend Dory the blue tang who find Nemo.
Now, children and families in the Otsego area have the opportunity to try their luck at finding Nemo, along with some of his friends.
As part of its summer reading program, Oceans of Possibility, the Otsego District Library is offering Finding Nemo & Friends, a scavenger-hunt-style game that takes participants throughout downtown Otsego in search of characters from the movie.
Otsego Main Street partnered with the library to make the game possible.
“This is just another way we’re able to engage our patrons,” Otsego District Library assistant director Diane DeVries said. “It allows kids and their families to get out and about and have a good time together.”
As part of the game—which began on Friday, July 1, and runs through Sunday, July 31—participants pick up a paper from the library. The front of the paper lists the 12 characters that need to be found, while the back is a map that will lead to those characters.
In addition to Nemo, the characters include Crush, Squirt, Pearl, Sheldon, Peach, Dory, Bubbles, Anchor, Bloat, Gill and Bruce.
As each character is found, participants check them off the list. Once all the characters are found, participants can bring their completed paper back to the library to receive a prize.
