KALAMAZOO—It was a busy weekend for the Otsego bowling teams.
The Bulldogs took part in the Wolverine Conference Championship at Revel & Roll on Friday, Feb. 16, before participating in the Southwest Michigan Conference Championship the following day.
“It was a weekend filled with bowling, bowling and more bowling,” Otsego coach Chuck Kinnane said.
The Otsego girls entered the Wolverine Conference Championship seeded third based on regular-season results. And with a fourth-place finish in the tournament, the Bulldogs finished third in the overall standings.
The Otsego girls beat Plainwell in the opening round before falling to second-seeded Sturgis and dropping a 3-2 decision to Edwardsburg in the third-place match.
The Otsego boys came in seeded fifth and finished fifth in the tournament, bouncing back from a 3-2 loss to Vicksburg to upend Paw Paw 3-0.
Kinnane was named Coach of the Year for the boys.
At the Southwest Michigan Conference Championship, the Otsego girls came in in a three-way tie for fourth place in the 12-team league.
After beating Plainwell, the Bulldogs dropped a close match to Portage Northern to finish third overall.
The Otsego boys bested Plainwell in the final round.
Kinnane again received Coach of the Year honors.
