MARION – The April unemployment rate for Osceola County is at 4.1 percent, ranking it the 39th lowest in the state as reported by the Michigan Department of Technology Management and Budget.
The rate for other counties included 3.4 percent for Midland County to rank 22nd; 3.6 percent for Isabella County to rank 38th; 4.4 percent for Mecosta County to rank 44th; 4.7 percent for Wexford County to rank 52nd, 5.0 percent for Missaukee County to rank 54th and 6.1 percent for Clare County to rank 64th.
Livingston County has the lowest rate in the state at 15 percent. Mackinac County has the highest at 13.4 percent.
Not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates receded in all 17 Michigan labor market areas over the month, according to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
“Labor force increases were seen across most Michigan labor market areas during April,” said Wayne Rourke, labor market information director of the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics, in a statement. “Regional payroll employment levels also advanced over the month.”
Michigan regional unemployment rates ranged from 2.0 to 6.3 percent during April, with a median over-the-month rate decrease of 1.5 percentage points.
The Northeast Lower Michigan region demonstrated the largest over-the-month decline in jobless rate (-3.1 percentage points). Unemployment rates decreased in all 17 Michigan labor market areas over the year, with a median rate reduction of 0.8 percentage points. Regions with the largest overthe-year rate decreases included the Detroit metropolitan statistical area (MSA) and the Lansing metro area.
