William Richard Imus was born in Kalamazoo MI on December 12, 1946, the sixth child of Robert Andrews Imus and Jean Esther (Sikkenga) Imus. He passed at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo on October 24, 2022 after a short illness.
Bill graduated from Mattawan High School class of 1965. He worked as a mechanic and service manager for his father’s automobile business, R. A. Imus Inc. of Paw Paw MI. For many years he was a self-employed contractor and builder, well respected in his field. He had a faithful spirit, a kind heart, and a true love of nature. He loved to fish and tend to his gardens. Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Paw Paw MI, a former volunteer for Lawton Fire Department, a longtime member of the Moose Lodge/Paw Paw Eagles, and Paw Paw Elks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Judith Gay Imus and Martha Jane Imus Forrest, and a son Timothy Scott Imus.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen Marie (Johnson/Bielecki) Imus, daughter Carrie Ann (Craig) Curtis, son David Richard Imus; step-children, Lynn Bielecki and Donald Bielecki, and three grandchildren, Bryce, Abigail and Jessica Curtis. Also surviving is a sister, Roberta Jean (Blaine) Rex of Decatur MI, and two brothers, Thomas (Linda) Imus of Kalamazoo and Clark (Jackie) Imus of Plainwell, also several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held October 28, 2022 at the Paw Paw Eagles Lodge in Lawton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Paw Paw Eagles, 63237 M-40, Lawton MI 49065, or the charity of your choice.
