Obituary: William Donald Randle

William Donald Randle, age 88 of Clare passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at his home.  William was born the son of Leslie and Edith (Loomis) Randle on June 23, 1934 on a farm between Clare and Coleman.  He was united in marriage to Esther Mae Strouse on October 2, 1954.  William attended the country school called Wildcat; while in High School he became interested in Carpentry.  Following High School William served his Country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 as a Cook.  Following his discharge he attended cabinet making school in Kalamazoo and then continued in carpentry building and remodeling in the Clare and surrounding areas.  He was the Clare County Building Inspector from 1981 until his retirement in 2002.  William continued to build wooden toys, canes, and anything someone needed until his passing.  He loved spending time with family camping, fishing, hunting, and playing baseball.  He never missed a ball game that his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were playing if he could get there.  His favorites were babies, he LOVED babies and the babies loved him.  He worked in the church nursery until he was 87.  William loved fishing, Blue Gill fishing was his favorite, but he simply loved fishing of any kind and everyday if possible.

     William is survived by his wife, Esther; children Brenda (Jerry) Eberhart of Clare, Kevin (Grace Schneider) Randle of Prescott, AZ and David (Dawn) Randle of Ocala, FL; grandchildren Amber Layfield, Autumn Layfield, Eric Layfield, Jeff Layfield, Tanya Randle, Janel Randle, Jason Randle, Logan Randle, Lucas Randle and Shelby Randle; great grandchildren Krystina, Zakk, Raylee, Scott, Chloe, Brynlee, Elden, Trent, Raven, Aspen, Ed, Shannon, Nathan, Andrew, Arianna, Ezra, Arlo and Brave; as well as in-laws Jeanette Strouse, Leonard Strouse and Ron and Marleen Root.  He was predeceased by his parents, siblings Irene (Chuck) Koontz, Ralph (Naomi) Randle, Norman (Leona) Randle, Robert (Jackie) Randle, Ruth (Vernell) Carey and Betty (Tom) Bennett; in-laws Ray and Hilda Strouse, Dean and Annabelle VanderVeen, Charles Strouse and Delite Strouse.

     Visitation and services will take place at the Clare Church of the Nazarene.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4 to 7 P.M., with services on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Tim Fall officiating.  Military Honors and lunch to follow.  Burial will be held in the Cherry Grove Cemetery at 2 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Joshua’s House.  Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  On-0line condolences may be left at www.stephenson-wyman.com
