Stanley Effinger Showers, 83, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2022.
Stan was born in Colorado Springs, graduated from Saugatuck High School and attended Colorado College before beginning a family in Colorado.
An early passion for sports cars led to his acquiring and trading several models; later he turned to fishing, golf, and garage sales for leisure.
For more than 20 years he was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co., serving as credit and operations manager at several Midwest locations before retiring in Longview, Texas.
Along with his wife Jane, Stan was active with church activities, specifically youth and nursing home ministries. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Meals On Wheels and Haverty’s Angel Tree along the way.
Preceded in death by parents Louise and Francis Showers, and younger brother Kendal Showers, Stan is survived by his wife Jane, his brother Dave Showers, nieces, nephews and four daughters with a couple generations of their offspring.
A memorial service was held May 11 in Texarkana. Memorials may be made to Millwood Baptist Church Children’s Youth Camp Fund, 800-AR 32, Ashdown, AR, 71822.
