It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Sandra, affectionately known as Sandy by her dear friends and family. She left this world peacefully on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of wit, sarcasm, and a love for socializing that endeared her to all who knew her. Sandy was 89 years old.

Sandy was born in South Bend, IN on October 23, 1934, to the late Frank and Zinda (Day) Hildebrandt. She married LeRoy Barritt and they shared many years of happiness together before he preceded her in death in 2015. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lamirand and brother, Robert J. Hildebrandt. She is survived by her stepchildren, Mark (Debbie) Barritt and Beth Wiechman; sister-in-law, Brenda (Bill) Carbon; nephew, Gary Lamirand; niece Jackie (Johnie) Wyatt, along with several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sandy also played an influential role in the lives of her many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephew. For the last several years, Sandy’s great-niece, Keri and husband, Brian, were the primary caregivers of Sandy and made sure she was comfortable and well loved. Sandy brought joy and laughter to the lives of her loved ones. Her heart was as vast as the ocean and she gave selflessly in countless ways.

Sandy had a sweet tooth that was undeniable; she never met a Hershey’s Kiss or M&M she could resist. Her generosity knew no bounds, always the first to share her favorite treats with those closest to her heart.

In her younger years, Sandy embraced an active lifestyle, finding joy in Jazzercise and frequenting her cherished breakfast spot. Her magnetic personality, sharp wit, and playful sense of sarcasm made it so she never met a stranger; she had an uncanny ability to forge connections with everyone she encountered. Sandy also had a passion for puzzles, excelling in both crossword puzzles and devouring fictional books that transported her to different worlds.

Sandy was the embodiment of a life well-lived, always up for a good time and eager to embark on new adventures. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Life is a puzzle, and love is the missing piece. Sandy will always remain in our hearts.
