Rose Turee Wooddy Thomas, 61, of Opelika, Alabama passed away on October 16th, 2022, at the Bethany House in Auburn, AL after a long battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.She was born October 22nd, 1960, at the Wheeler Clinic in LaFayette, AL to George Dewey Wooddy and Gracie (Bone) Wooddy. Turee is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Thomas, and her father, George Dewey Wooddy. She is survived by her husband, Butch Thomas of Opelika, AL; stepson, Jason Thomas (Lacey) of Smiths, AL; special grandson, Javian Thomas of Opelika, AL and grandchildren Ethan, Owen and Blake Thomas and Nicholas and Isabell Jordan all of Smiths, AL; her mother, Gracie Wooddy of LaFayette, AL; sisters: Debra Beckwith (Campbell) of LaFayette, AL, Twyla Arthur or Opelika, AL, Ashley Oliver (Steve) of LaFayette, AL. She is also survived by her nephews, Jeremy Jarvis (Cordelia), Jacob Oliver, Will Ham and Aiden Jarvis and nieces, Kate Ham (Forrest), Kelsey Oliver, Jennings Ham and Ella Jarvis. She also leaves behind a dog and three cats that she loved.
Turee worked in manufacturing most of her life having been employed with Diversified Products and Uniroyal. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in LaFayette, AL where she grew up and later came to know Jesus as her Lord and savior. She was an avid Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Falcons football fan. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister, Twyla.
A graveside memorial service was held on Friday, October 21st, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Garden Hill Cemetery in Opelika, AL. Frederick-Dean Funeral home handled all arrangements.
