Rodney Omans of Clare, MI, passed away unexpectedly on January 10th, 2023 at his home. He was only 59 years old. The family is both shocked and devastated by his death. Rodney was born on August 21st, 1963 in Alma, MI to Richard Omans Sr and Dorothy Omans (O’Boyle).
Rodney obtained his GED and worked for several years in production at Alma Products. Rodney loved to wheel and deal especially with automobiles and usually owned several at a time, fixing them, and using them as barter for many different things.
Rodney was a kind, humble, giving soul and a jokester. Those who knew him have their own stories to tell. Rodney had many sides. One was the stubborn side. The other, on the other hand, was his giving, compassionate side. Rodney would give you the shirt off his back if you simply asked for it, whether you actually needed it or not. One of his proudest moments was buying his oldest great nephew his first bike.
In addition to his parents, Richard and Dorothy, Rodney was also preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Omans. He is survived by his wife Shelly Switzer, his brothers, Michael Omans, Richard (Pam) Omans and Keith (Carol) Omans. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other extended family members that will miss him dearly. He is also survived by Jessica, Mackenzie, Travis and Darek who have always held a special place in Rodney’s heart.
A memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be left at www.stephenson-wyman.com
