Obituary: Rebecca G. Evans

Rebecca G. Evans peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family on December 18th, 2023. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Richard and June Groves on April 7th, 1941. She graduated Clare High School in 1959 and entered Michigan State University as an honors student. She was an avid Spartans fan her entire life. She married Gary S. Evans on June 25, 1960, and moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1961 to attend the University of Florida.
Becky was a very special woman, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She served on many boards (Junior League, ARC, Child Abuse Council, United Way, and was one of the four original Guardian-ad-Litem appointed by Governor Graham). Becky was employed by Harvey Budd and Mark Goldstein for 5 years and Dr. Ramadan (Ramadan Hand Institute) for 15 years. She was a leader within the office and was well loved by her peers for the fair and dedicated worker that she was. Her leadership skills did not go unnoticed by those around her as she helped each business that she worked for thrive, achieving nothing but success.
She is survived by her four children Amy Pritchett (Rusty), Gary G. Evans, Geoff Evans (Denise) and Jennifer Maris (Kevin) and her six grandchildren Luke Pritchett (Radie), Evan Pritchett (Hayley), Patricia Maris, Olivia Evans (Tyler), Maranda Maris and Garland Evans and four great grandchildren, Hampton Brooks Pritchett, Halle Elizabeth Pritchett, James Jaxson Pritchett and Tatum Walker Evans. Plus, her bonus family of Annette Walko, Corey Walko (Inna), Alina, Ayla, Brittanie Funderburk (Ryan) and Leo Michael Funderburk. Her sister Deana Joseph (Jim), Joy Schilling, and sister-in-law Dee McCarthy (Pat) as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family was always her main focus in her life. She spoke highly of her memories and experiences shared with family and friends, and always considered them to be her greatest blessings. She had a loving influence in molding the character of her children and grandchildren, and her expectation for the very best never wavered. She taught them to reach for the stars in all areas of life with enthusiasm, commitment, and hard work, and never failed to end each conversation, email, or letter with “Love you, love you, love you.”
In honoring her wishes a small celebration of life and her birthday will be held on April 6th, 2024 in Gainesville, Florida (location and time TBA).
