Mr. Charlie Joe Staples, 69, of Alexander City (formerly of Randolph County) died Friday, February 9, 2024, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Birmingham. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Wadley at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. William Russell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Staples is survived by his two children: Michael Hughley, Roanoke and Lawanada Hughley, Valdosta, GA; three siblings: Jerome Staples, Anniston, Darnell Staples, Decatur, GA and Janice Staples, Alexander City; two aunts: Rebecca Jean Threatt, Pell City and Maude Thomas, Atlanta, GA; one uncle: Roosevelt Staples, Wadley and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
