Michael H. Gage, age 72 of Clare, formerly of Farwell, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the MyMichigan Medical Center of Midland surrounded by family. On March 14, 1951, Michael was born the son of Alfred J. and Maben (Hassler) Gage in Saginaw, Michigan where Michael grew up and graduated from Arthur Hill in Saginaw class of 1970. Not long after high school, Michael joined the Army Reserves but was discharged several years later. Michael then began his work career in sales, having served thirty-plus years in the industry with the Rent-A-Center, ABC Warehouse, and Aaron’s store brands—most notably having been the operating manager that started and operated the Aaron’s store in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. In 1984, Michael moved to Farwell, and continued to be a Central Michigan area resident for the remainder of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting both pheasants in his younger years and deer throughout his life. He had a beanie baby collection that was second to none, and he was never shy to brag about how many times he got to take a company trip to enjoy Vegas. Michael’s most recent and favorite activity was spending time with his grandson. However, those that knew Michael best will tell you that it was his overwhelming kindness and gentle heart that spoke to his true nature.
Michael is survived by his two daughters Mallory (Justin White) Gage of Mt. Pleasant and Kelsey (Christopher) Jakovac-Harris of Farwell. He is also survived by his grandson Christian Michael Jakovac-Harris and many close friends from his hometown of Saginaw. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Maben Gage and his half-brother Wayne Kendall.
In keeping with Michael’s wishes, a private graveside service will take place at the Surrey Township Cemetery of Farwell where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. Memorial contributions in honor of Michael may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation and online condolences may be shared on his tribute page at www.stephenson-wyman.com
