Mary Granat, age 89, of Allegan, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Ely Manor. Mary was born August 4, 1934 in Watson Township, daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline Flynn and had lived in the Watson and Allegan areas her entire life. Mary loved to read and would not pass by a garage sale. More than anything though, family was everything to Mary. Spending time with her loved ones and making her famous goulash were always looked forward to. She cherished her grandkids and was always up for anything her grandchildren would mention. The family would like to extend a special thank you the wonderful staff at Ely Manor, especially the memory care staff. Surviving are her children, Dede “Denise” (Ray) Lewis, Cookie “Christine” (Wally) Pabis, Scott (Lisa) Granat; grandchildren, Carrie (Matt) Burza, Stephen (Mackenzie) Lewis, Walter (Lily Slack) Pabis, Joseph (Stephanie Oosterhouse) Pabis, Alex (Ashley) Granat, Hannah (Jon Herzog) Granat; great grandchildren, Logan Burza, Oakley and Beckham Granat, Westin and Emersyn Herzog. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Granat; her parents; and a sister, Patricia Flynn Keeler. Following her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Allegan. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan. Inurnment will take place in Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Township.
