Mary E. McDonald, 76, of Gladwin, passed away on December 20, 2023, in Florida. She was born on March 19, 1947, to John and Elizabeth Rodabaugh in Clare.
On December 8, 1973, Mary was united in marriage to Ronald McDonald in Farwell. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Mary began her professional journey as a bookkeeper for Chemical Bank after graduating from Clare High School. Later, as the family settled in Gladwin and grew, she continued working for the Gladwin Community Schools, taking on various roles and responsibilities. Her dedication to her community extended to her work at Member’s First Credit Union, where she retired as a bank teller after many years of service.
Mary was a devoted member of the Community of Christ Church and was ordained into the Priesthood, embodying her commitment to faith and service. She found joy in traveling, exploring the United States with her husband, and spending winters in Florida. In her later years, Mary was resourceful and stayed connected through Facebook, keeping up on community events and being in touch with friends and family. A lover of Hallmark movies, she cherished moments spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Mary’s life was characterized by her dedication to family.
Mary is survived by her three daughters: Jane (Brian) Sisley of Orlando, FL, Judy (Mike) McDonald of Orlando, FL, Jen (Matt) Anderson of Davenport, FL; son: David (Sarah) McDonald of Midland, MI. Her children blessed her with 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Dyson), Timothy, Logan, Aiden, Malia, Makayla, Maxwell, Peyton, Dylan & Veronica; and 1 great-grandson: Atticus. She is also remembered by her siblings: Tom Rodabaugh and Jim (Therese) Rodabaugh, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents, John and Elizabeth; and brothers, Jack and Bud Rodabaugh.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Mary’s life will be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Community of Christ Church, Gladwin. The family will receive guests from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made according to the wishes of the family.
