Obituary: Mark Harmon VanValkenburg

Mark Harmon VanValkenburg, age 65, of Webberville, formerly of Harrison, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at the VFW Post 1075, 3190 North Clare Avenue, Harrison, on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 12 noon with Stacy Stocking officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow at the VFW. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the VFW.

Mark was born on February 17, 1958, in Lansing, son of Clifford and Rosana (Fay) VanValkenburg. Mark proudly served his Country in the United States Army. He loved watching the Detroit Lions football and was an avid Harley Davidson rider.

Mark is survived by his children, Kenneth (Dawn) Paek and Sarah (Chris) Williams; 3 grandchildren, Dezzaray Decker, Keegan Paek, and Kylei Paek; siblings, Deb (Steve) Aldrich and Eric (Heather) VanValkenburg; significant other, Yvonne Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carla VanValkenburg; brother and best-friend, Cliff VanValkenburg; infant brother, Michael James VanValkenburg; and special cousin, Nitch McVicar.
