John Edward Conner, age 75, of Lapeer, (formerly of Kalamazoo) died on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
John was born April 15, 1948, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo, class of 1966. He went on to earn his associate’s degree in accounting at Parsons Business School and later furthered his education at ECPI in computer science, being first in the field of computers. John married Nancy Ann Harris on June 24, 1966 in Richland, Michigan. John was a successful computer engineer working many years for Upjohn Corporation in Kalamazoo and eventually retiring from Haworth, Inc. in Holland. His career spanned more than three decades. In his spare time John was a true outdoorsman – he loved hunting, fishing and fruit farming, and was an avid bee keeper. Always community focused, John served on his local school board for several years, volunteered at the local food pantry and attended innumerable local board meetings just to be informed and active. John had a particular passion for antiquing (some might say collecting junk – but he loved it). Above all, John was a family man who instilled a love of family to all of his children.
John is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Nancy Conner; children: John Jr. (Kim) Conner of Douglas, GA, David (Beth) Conner of Schoolcraft, Christopher (Lynnae) Conner of Haslet, TX and Stephanie (Nick) Coleman of Oxford; eleven grandchildren: Alexa (Zac) Kuntz, Cassidy (Wylie) Schnedl, Brody (Allison) Conner, Kristin Conner, Holly (David) Bancroft, Ryan (Emily) Conner, Levi Conner, Layla Conner, Seth Conner, Nicole Coleman (significant other, Evan) and Kelsey (fiancé, Mitch) Coleman; one great grandbaby, Declan (and one more great grandbaby (Conner) on the way).
In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. There will be no formal service at this time.
