JoAnn (Kobe) Smith, 91, of Paw Paw, passed away May 2, 2023. She was born to the late Frank and Jennie Kobe.
She worked at her parents’ root beer stand, The Big Barrell Drive Inn, Paw Paw. She later retired from McKenzie Insurance, Paw Paw, in 1993. She was a longtime member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw. She loved all the flowers in her yard, gardening, cooking and entertaining. On April 11, 1953, she married Charles F. Smith, who preceded her in death in 2020.
She is survived by her daughter, Tonda (Louis) Smith-Koshar; son, Michael Smith; five grandchildren, Steven (Monica) Barrett, Brianna (Jordan) Chopp, Jenna (Alex) Kahila, Annalice White and Selina (Ruben) Hernandez; seven great-grandchildren, Kylee, Jayda, Alexa, Hudson, Aubree, Royce and Amara; along with her sister, Florence (Kobe) Lewis; her canine companion, Sami; and her best friend, Linda Scotese. JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Richard Smith; sister, Dorothy (Kobe) Mroczek; and her parents, Frank and Jennie Kobe.
