Irene Katharine Pacula, 92, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Paw Paw, passed away July 17, 2023. Irene was born March 23, 1931, in Chicago, the daughter of Matthew and Sofia Kwasniak.
Irene was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed working for Paw Paw High School for 18 years.
On June 20, 1953, Irene married Joseph Pacula, who preceded her in death Sept. 10, 1989.
She is survived by her two daughters, Angela (Bob) Crocker of Plainwell, MI, Susan (Jim) Olsen of Catawba Island, OH; two sons, Richard of Fort Wayne, IN and Joseph (Caroline) of San Francisco, CA; eight grandchildren, Amber Crocker, RJ (Krissy) Crocker, Kristen (Kevin) Doyle, James Olsen, Jr., Sydney (Keith) Pacula Owen, Spencer (Alexa) Pacula, Bryce Pacula and Jack Pacula; six great-grandchildren, Zachery Zdzinicki, Nicholaus Zdzinicki, Mykenzie Crocker, Lucas Crocker, Rowan Pacula and Andi Pacula.
In addition to her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Victor Pacula, and her siblings, Berniece, John, Ben, Eleanor, and Adele.
Family and friends visited Friday, July 21, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial followed Saturday, July 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw, with the Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen officiating. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Paw Paw.
