Obituary: Edgar Allen Guigue

Edgar Allen Guigue, 98 of South Haven, Michigan, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.  Born April 7, 1925, in Port Huron, Michigan, he was the son of the late Eli and Mary (Olsen) Guigue and he was the faithful husband of Hazel Marie (Russell) Guigue.  Edgar lived a full and wonderful life.  He served honorably in the United States Navy and was also a volunteer for MAAP Missionary for 10 years.  He had a servant heart and continually showed what it was like to care for and about people. He was dedicated to his loving wife, Hazel, for over 72 years, and was a caring and compassionate father and grandfather.  As a young man he attended a trade school in carpentry and spent the rest of his life as a carpenter who enjoyed working in his own shop even after retirement.  Edgar’s love for his family and fellow man showed what a truly remarkable man he was and leaves those who knew and loved him with beautiful memories to cherish.

Edgar is survived by his dear wife, Hazel; his son, Jeffrey (Diane Kay) Guigue; his daughter, Janet Kay Guigue (Michael Craig); and his grandson, Brian Richard Guigue.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Eli Guigue.

Memorial donations may be made in Edgar’s name to Caring Circle South Haven, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, MI 49090 Hospice or Glenn Methodist Church, 1395 Blue Star Hwy, South Haven, MI 49090.  The family wishes to thank Caring Circle Hospice for their genuine and compassionate care during Edgar’s illness.  Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
