Dolores Jeanne “Lori” Moore, 96, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 24, 1927 in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Ralph and Genevieve (Blodgett) Arndt, and earned her GED from Marcellus High School in 1969.
Lori worked at Michigan Gas in the bookkeeping department, then for Three Rivers Community Schools. In her 20-plus years with the district, she served as a secretary at the high school and each of the elementary schools, retiring from Huss School when it closed in 1981. From 1986-1991, she was the “Coffee Lady” at Johnson Corporation, providing hospitality to the employees.
On June 1, 1947, she married Armond Moore; they shared 54 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 22, 2001.
Lori was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Ninth Street United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served on the Altar Guild.
She loved to sing, and sang professionally with a couple of different area bands, the Sweet Adelines Group, participated in “Make We Merry” and the Mendon Showboat for a number of years. She also had a “Card Ministry” of writing monthly notes to many friends and shut-ins.
At age 89, Lori published her first book, “Here Comes The Bus!” – a recollection of her experiences as an elementary school secretary.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joyce Moore (the late Jack Bryson) and step-son Michael Bryson; son, Armond W. (Bill) Moore and grandson Matthew McGuire (partner Kris Hudson); brother, Dennis Storer (wife Carole) and niece Catherine Anne (Storer) Hainey (husband Steve); brother, Paul F. Arndt (wife Karen) and nephew Mark; sister-in-law, Donna Anable and nieces Terry (Eric) Van Heukelum and Kathy Kline; niece and nephew, Judy Remington and Donald Rumsey (Teri).
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; special friend, Donald Brunner; sister, Roberta (Arndt) Brassow; brother, William C. Arndt; brothers-in-law Don Rumsey and Jim Anable; sister-in-law, Phyllis Rumsey.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 321 N. Main St., Three Rivers, with Pastor James Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lori’s memory may be directed to the Three Rivers Community Kitchen. Envelopes will be available at the church and at the funeral home.
