DANIEL LLOYD RISCH
AUGUST 29, 1948 – MARCH 8, 2023
Daniel Lloyd Risch, age 74 of Midland passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Daniel was born August 29, 1948 in Waukesha, Wisconsin the son of Arthur W. Risch and Dorothy B. (Engle) Risch. Daniel graduated from Bath High School in 1966. He then joined the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After serving his country and receiving an honorable discharge, he married his highschool sweetheart Ms. Kathryn Tucker on October 3, 1970 in East Lansing, MI. Daniel then continued his education and earned a Masters Degree in Culinary Arts from MSU.
Daniel spent much time in Mt. Pleasant, where he joined the Knights of Columbus. There he contributed by holding several positions including Grand Knight. Daniel and family were also very active in the community and volunteer work. After residing in Harrison, Daniel moved to Midland in 2020. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Midland. Sir Knight Daniel was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed cooking, baking pastries, gardening, watching sports, crocheting afghans and lap-robes to donate to the local V.A. hospital, and spending time with his family and pets.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Mrs. Kathryn Risch of Midland, two daughters: Dorothy Jeanne “DJ” Risch of Midland, Michigan and Theresa (Larry) Nelligan of Ann Arbor, MI, 2 grandchildren, Kenneth and Krystin Nelligan. Daniel was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 S. Broad Street, Harrison. Funeral mass for Daniel will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating.
