Obituary: Charlotte Ruth Warner

Charlotte Ruth Warner, 78, of Clare, passed away on July 21, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland with her family by her side. Charlotte was born February 18, 1944, in Gladwin, MI, to Paul and Julia (Iutzi) Huber. She married Gerald L. Warner on February 1, 1964, in Harrison, and they made a home in rural Clare.
Charlotte was an integral part of the family farm and also worked for a time at The Clare Sentinel, Purolator Courier, Mitchell Corporation, the Bread Basket, and the Clare Stockyards restaurant, which she owned for 41 years.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she attended every school activity and sporting event for them that she could. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening and having family cookouts. She also loved to travel and made many trips with friends and family to Alabama for the June Jam concert in Fort Payne, always finding interesting places, near and far, to explore along the way. In 1974 she was the first female driver in the demolition derby at the Clare County Free Fair, competing against a field of 25 men. She was also a dedicated blood donor and had given over 12 gallons of blood through the Red Cross. She was a selfless, hardworking, amazing woman, with a quiet but adventurous spirit, and she could do anything she set her mind to. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving Charlotte are her husband, Gerald of Clare; children, Dawn Renee Warner of Clare, Joel (Gina) Warner of Clare, Rochelle (Warner) Brittain of Wheeler, Jacquelyn (Brad Bohrn) Warner of Dafter; grandchildren, Ben, Baillie (Jose), Margaret (Tim), Katie (Kyle), Austin, Samantha, Thaddeus (Skylar), and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Violet, Willow, Jackson, Emily, Gabriella, and two more on the way; sister, Carol Schweihofer of St. Clair, brothers, Dale Huber of Eaton Rapids and Robyn (Jacky) Huber of Harrison; many loving nieces and nephews, her dear friend Phyllis Gariglio of Clare, and her loyal dog Missy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Monty Huber; sister Cybil Schofield; mother-in-law Dorothy Warner, father-in-law Henry Warner; brothers-in-law Ken Warner and Larry Schweihofer, and sisters-in-law Loretta Warner and Mary Jo Warner.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Brown Corners Church, 5540 S. Clare Ave, Clare, MI 48617. There will be visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
