Carrie L. Garver age 85, of Clare, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at MyMichigan Health in Clare. She was born the daughter of John and Thelma (Colmus) Bauer on January 25, 1937 in Clare, Michigan. She married Rex Garver on April 27, 1956 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2007. She was a lifelong resident of the Clare area and had attended the New Life Bible Church (formerly Grace Bible Church) until its closure. Family was her “Social Life”! She loved farming with Rex, tending her garden, feeding her birds and playing the organ. She was an avid reader, especially her Bible.
Carrie is survived by her children, Carrie (Neal) Lewis of Newton, Ks., Anglau (Ed) Allen of Clare, Jeannie (Daniel) Fitzpatrick of Beaverton, Ron (Stacy) Garver, Margo (Steve) Hartgrove all of Clare, ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Kathleen (Chuck) Shayler of Clare. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rex, and her siblings, Jack, Tommie, Robert, and Elizabeth.
Funeral services for Carrie will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Clare United Methodist Church with Pastor Lonnie Severance from Hospice officiating. Friends may meet with her family at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 9 PM and on Friday at the church from 10 to 11 AM. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the Gideon’s International or to Promedica Hospice.
