Betty “Bess” A. Nystrom, age 100 of Farwell, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Horizons Senior Living in Clare. Bess was born the daughter of the late Manuel and Clara V. (Campeau) Sutton on February 6, 1923 in Clare. She was united in marriage to Allan Nystrom on June 28, 1952 in Clare, with him predeceasing her on January 16, 1993. Bess was a lifelong resident of the Clare area; she had worked as a Customer Representative for Consumers Energy for 25 years. She was a faithful member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish. She loved dogs and liked being in the Social Circles; she enjoyed lake life on Five Lakes for over 40 years.
Bess is survived by her daughter-in-law Kathy Graves; grandchildren Matthew (Becca) Graves and Sara (Neal) Paszkiewicz; great grandchildren Aaron Graves and Zach and Thea Paszkiewicz; a special great niece Christina Haring; nieces and nephews Lori Baker, Brad Baker, Missy Santure, Susie Baumgarth, Mike McDonald, Clara Bancroft, Ann DiIorio, DeDe Stone, Tommy Ray and Jeff Ray; special friends John and Loretta Wischmeyer. Bess was predeceased by her son Joe Graves, and siblings Ila Baker, Hazel McDonald, Marsha Ray, Stan Sutton and Norm Sutton.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 11 A.M. until 2 P.M. Burial will be held privately in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.
