Bertha Mary (Haley) Bastian, of Lawton, peacefully passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at the age of 88. Bertha was the daughter of Duane and Ethel (Lull) Haley, born Aug. 23, 1935.
Bertha spent 54 years serving the residents of Lawton. Regardless of the name on the door, she was always the smiling cashier behind the counter at the local grocery store. After retiring in 2021, she still maintained many of the friendships forged over those years.
She loved her family fiercely and never hesitated to pick up the telephone to check in often. Family was paramount to Bertha and remained so even during her final days. There was no room to doubt the love she freely shared.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Don) Fuller and Dianna (Tom) Collier, six grandchildren, Eric (Christy) Fuller, Adam Fuller, Becky (Jesse) Hill, Justin (Josephine) Fuller, Kristina (Jeffery) Longcore and Penny (Pierce) Summers; 10 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Payton, Grayson, Taylor, Logyn, Cooper, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Jackson, and Calynne.
Family and friends were welcomed to celebrate the life of Bertha Bastian on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Lawton Evangelical Church, 425 S. Nursery St., Lawton, where a visitation was hosted, followed by a funeral service. Following the funeral service, a luncheon was held at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses or to Centrica Care Navigators, in remembrance of the wonderful care that was provided for Bertha.
