Obituary: Adelia Davis

Adelia Davis, 89, of McCamey, TX, and formerly of Hopkins, MI, passed quietly into the arms of her Heavenly Father at the McCamey Convalescent Center on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10:20pm.
She was born in South Haven, MI the daughter of Harold “Bus†Mort and Elna (Jorgensen) Mort. Adelia was a 1952 graduate of Hopkins, MI High School where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. In August of 1953, she married her high school sweetheart Charles H. Davis, Jr. They raised four sons starting while Charles was serving in the U.S. Navy. After Charles got out of the Navy, they again made their home in Hopkins, until moving to McCamey, TX in 1982. In 1994, after Charles’ retirement, they moved back to Hopkins. But in 2007, having had enough of Michigan winters, they moved back to McCamey to stay.
Adelia was a wonderful Christian wife and mother. She kept an impeccably clean house and baked the best fruit pies and home-made bread. She loved the Lord, and she loved her church family, and they loved her. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of McCamey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Elna Mort, brother-in-law, Willis Mullen, sister Aileen Mullen, and a grandson, Mason Hoskinson.
Adelia is survived by her husband Charles Davis of McCamey; sons Robert (Bettie) of Hudsonville, MI, James (Melodie) of Dorr, MI, Alan (Elaine) of Midland, TX, and Kevin (Angelica) of McCamey, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan Davis, Jesse Davis, Ethan Davis, Mica Davis, Jennifer Hoskinson Beckett, Tara Davis, Cody Davis, Scott Davis, Dallas Davis, Austin Davis, Avery Davis, Chayton Davis, Nolan Davis, and Arwen Davis; great grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Bella Davis, Lamont Davis, Audrina Davis, Karson Davis, Kaden Davis, Dezirae Davis, and Remi Davis; and a sister, Karen Pekin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey. Burial will follow in the Restaven Cemetery.
