Lauren Mroczek of Mattawan will be competing for Miss Michigan at the Frauenthal Center in Muskegon on June 15th and 17th. Lauren is currently Miss Shoreline, a local Miss America Organization title within Michigan. Lauren will be competing alongside 22 other women from across the state for the opportunity of a lifetime, with the hopes of representing Michigan at the Miss America competition in January 2024.
Phases of competition at Miss Michigan include talent, onstage question, private interview, evening gown, and fitness.
Lauren is a 2018 graduate of Mattawan High School, and earned her bachelor of science degree in biomedical sciences with emphasis in nutrition sciences from Grand Valley State University and the Frederik Meijer Honors College in 2021.
She now works full time as a Bioanalytical Technician in an Immunology laboratory where she quality tests pharmaceuticals. As a competitor in the Miss America Organization, Lauren created her Community Service Initiative (CSI), Feeding Ourselves: The Importance of Fruits and Vegetables, where she advocates for increased access to, and consumption of, fruits and vegetables to promote overall health, well-being, and lower risk of developing life-threatening chronic diseases.
One notable accomplishment Lauren has made with her CSI is her community outreach project, Growing Gardens for Growing Minds. Lauren, with the support of her community, has been able to raise over $4,000 and donate over 800 free gardening kits to Michigan families over the past three years. Each kit includes 10 seed packets, 10 recipe cards, information pamphlets, kids activities, and a few more goodies.
