Missaukee divvies out ARPA funds

LAKE CITY – The Missaukee County American Rescue Plan (ARPA) committee met on Tuesday to discuss the distribution of ARPA funds. Jennifer Burkholder, Merritt Community Development Association, wanted to adjust their request to $8,000 which more accurately reflects actual costs that have now been determined.
The Committee said it would consider $500,000 as a base for total funding for community projects.
The Committee made various recommendations on funding for projects to the Board of Commissioners:
It was decided to completely reject the request from funding from
Cherry Capital Connections LLC.
It was decided to fully fund the Lake Township Senior Center
improvement project funding request for $50,000.
It was decided to fund the Senior Center request for funding in part,
for $35,000.
The committee decided to fully fund the Merritt Community Development Association request at $8,000 and to fully fund the Silent Observer request of $2,500.
It was also decided to fully fund the request from Forest Township
for Jenema Road project funding gap, $7,500.
The committee voted to recommend to partially fund the Lake City Area Schools request for the outdoor classroom project at Missaukee Mountain for $10,000.
It was also decided to partially fund Missaukee Mountain’s request
for funding for new ski/snowboard equipment and free ski passes for kids, for $25,000.
A motion to fully fund the request from the Missaukee County Fire Departments for $411,538 died for lack of support.
It was decided to recommend to partially fund the request from the Missaukee County Fire Departments in the amount of $190,000 for 800Mhz radio acquisition.
It was agreed to partially fund the Missaukee Area Chamber
of Commerce (formerly Lake City Chamber of Commerce) request for the building renovation project in the amount of $30,000.
