LAKE CITY – At last week’s Board of Commissioners meeting, a motion was passed to waive the competitive bidding process and approve the purchase of seven Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) from Tele-Rad for the total purchase price of
$43,543.
It will be paid from 911 Fund 261.
Commissioners also voted to waive the sealed bid process and approve the purchase of a new ambulance from Emergency Vehicles Plus in the amount of $350,434.45.
This includes a 10 percent deposit to be paid from EMS Fund 210, or a loan from ARPA if funds aren’t available in Fund 210.
Sheriff Wil Yancer reviewed his request to purchase a new snowmobile. The Sheriff’s Department, it was pointed out at the meeting, has applied for a grant through the DNR, which will pay for up to 80 percent of the cost up to $10,000, and is only good until April 1, 2023.
A motion passed to give the County Sheriff permission to move forward with purchasing a snowmobile for the Department.
Commissioner Pam Niebrzydowski spoke about the AES meeting that was held recently. She also highlighted a program Munson Hospital in Cadillac had for occupational therapy.
A representative for Senator Michelle Hoitenga, wanted to introduce himself on behalf of the Senator’s office.
Jackie Hartman, Butterfield Township Resident, said she wondered why the County and/or Landbank Authority is not willing to sell the old Merritt School Building to the
group that proposed to purchase it and turn it into a Community Center.
She asked for reconsideration on this decision.
