MCBAIN – The Missaukee County Board of Commissioners finance committee was set to meet this week and was ready to review several financial requests.
The county has been approached by Consumers Energy to upgrade the lighting in the county buildings to lED lights. This would mean replacing all lights that have compatible ballasts LEDS.
It was noted if Consumers Energy finds any lights that are not compatible they will be made a recommendation to the building and grounds supervisor Jeff Lyle. For all lights consumers can replace, there will be no cost to the county.
For any lights that do not have compatible ballasts, consumers will make a recommendation to the county. Those lights will have a cost and could be brought back before the board for consideration.
Linda Hartshorne-Shafer, director of Missaukee County Emergency Management/planning is asking the county to increase her departments hours from 32 per week to 40. She’s requesting 24 hours for emergency management and 16 hours for planning.
Her building department is also requesting the secretary position from part-time to full-time (40 hours) per week. This proposal, the department said, would allow it to be open to the public five days a week.
