MARION – Georgia Meyer threw a five-inning no-hitter for Marion on Friday over Mason County Central in a 13-0 win
Meyer struck out eight batters and walked two. At the plate Meyer helped herself with a two-run home run and an RBI double. Madison Bell had three hits and an RBI. Harley Bear had two hits and two RBI, Malley Raymond had two hits, Ella Wilson had a two-RBI triple. Bonnie Kiger, McKayla Cruson, and Maddie Sutton each added hits.
Marion won 11-4 in Game two.
“We got off to a slow start offensively, had two big innings, and then went cold again,” Marion coach Ryan Raymond said. “Harley Bear started the game and pitched two great innings, striking out 4 of 7 batters allowing zero hits and zero runs. Georgia Meyer came in for relief and picked up the win, pitching four innings and striking out nine batters.
“We had some fielding errors and are trying to work on throw downs and plays. We felt if a few runs scored, it wasn’t the end of the world. We were going for some outs despite the outcome. It was kind of a practice scenario in real time.”
Bear led Marion at the plate with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs. Bonnie Kiger three hits, two doubles and three RBIS, Georgia Meyer had two hits and an RBI; Maddie Sutton had a hit and an RBI, Maddy Bell a hit and two RBIs, while McKayla Cruson and Delaney Lloyd each added hits.”
