MCBAIN – McBain fell behind 7-0 but reeled off 30 unanswered points for a 30-7 win over Pine River on Friday night in Highland Conference football action.
It was McBain’s final home game.
“The Bucks started the scoring on their opening possession but we rattled off 30 unanswered points,” McBain coach Patrick Maloney said. “Ben Rodenbaugh got us started with a 1-yard run. Landon Kirt ran in the second from 48 yards. Ben scored two times in the third and Caleb Miller caught a two-point conversion.”
Rodenbaugh led in rushing with 17 attempts for 179 yards
Landon Kirt had five carries for 72 yards and Bryce Akom eight carries for 64 yards.
Akom led the defense with eight tackles and Jonathan Sikkema had seven also.
The regular season ends this Friday for McBain at Fowler
“We play a solid Fowler Eagle team that returns many from their team that upset Beal City last year in the playoffs,” Maloney said. “They are 7-1 and average near 50 points a game. We have to slow down their offense and we have to score points especially inside our red zone.”
McBain is 5-3 and Fowler is 7-1.
Win or lose, McBain is hopeful of being in the playoffs Oct. 27-28.
