MARION – Marion hosted its final competitive cheer invitational on Feb. 6 and won its four-team division.
In Division 3 for varsity Shepherd scored 600 to win. For the middle school, scores were: Shepherd 400; Marion 388.8; Evart 388.7; East Jordan 370.6 and McBain 329.4
For Division 4 varsity, it was Marion 715.38; Farwell 657.9; Evart 649.1; McBain 570.1
“The Marion Varsity team performed very well in all three rounds,” coach Danyel Prielipp said. “They have been working a lot on execution and timing; it has paid off. Our final regular season competition (was) Feb. 7th at Chippewa Hills High School. We will then compete at districts in Montabella on February 17th at 10 a.m. (for districts).”
Marion, whose school district superintendent Danyel Prielipp is also the competitive cheer coach, consists of Jennifer Fouch, Lila Krchmar, Taylor Kruse, Aaliyah Nealey, Ellie Pearson, Lila Prielipp, Malley Raymond, J’Lynn Schoonmaker, Madison Sutten, Shawntay VanBuskirk, Ella Wilson, Kylie Adams, Ashley Lewis, Kloie Pefferman and Austin Sandelius.
“Tonight the girls, particularly in round one, were super tight and super loud,” Prielipp said after the Evart meet when her team took first. “They came in with something to prove tonight. They wanted to make over 700. That’s a pretty high score to get over 700. They blasted it with 722.”
Round 1 is strictly motions, round 2 is skills with tumbling, flexibility and jumps and round 3 features mounts.
