Marion girls fifth in regional

MARION – The Marion track and field girls hosted the regional meet on May 19 and finished fifth among 14 teams.

For Marion, Selena Quintero was seventh (2:53.02) in the 800 meters and fourth in the 1,600 meters (6:11.82). J’Lynn Schoonmaker was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Harley Bear won the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, ½ inch. McKayla Croson was sixth in the shot put with 36 feet one-half inch. McKayla Cruson was sixth at 31-2.

Bear and Cruson were one-two in the discus at 118-3 and 110-5.

Aaliyah Welch cleared 4-8 in the high jump for a personal record and fourth. Schoonmaker went at 7-0 in the pole vault for third place.

Lila Prielipp was fifth in the long jump (15-0).

Marion state qualifiers for June 3 are Bear and Cruson in the discus and Bear in the shot put.
