Many events mark last weekend in August

“It is difficult to believe summer is coming to an end,” was shared by many as realization hit that this was the end of activities around Allegan. The weather was picture perfect. Friday held the last Rollin’ on the River with The Elijah Russ Collaborative. Saturday’s Fire Department’s Breakfast was delicious, and last Good Times at the Gazebo featured Luke Lenhart & That Beatles Thing Band. Sunday found entertainment with wonderful food and drink at Allegan Event plus an ice cream social plus at the Masonic Lodge, and don’t forget the Allegan Antique Market at the Allegan Fairgrounds. Then Fork in the Road, Food Truck Rally, ended Monday evening dinner selections.
Summer 2023 in Downtown Allegan, even with major road construction and infrastructure improvements, brought a wide variety of activities to the city. Through the efforts of groups like Kalamazoo Folk Life, Allegan Chapter and the City of Allegan plus the support of local businesses in Downtown and beyond, there were numerous opportunities.
Never fear, fall and winter will bring the October Halloween Trick-or-Treat celebration downtown, the November Small Business Saturday and the December Festive Friday specials that run into the big New Year’s Eve celebration on the Riverfront. By October, the major street improvements should be complete.
Thank you to all who work to offer entertainment and special events to Allegan.
