At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Saturday March 12, 2022 a Deputy with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on M-222 in Watson Township. While trying to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled from the Deputy and a short pursuit took place. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle did a U-turn in a parking lot then intentionally drove at the Deputy, striking the deputy’s car and disabling it, however the suspect vehicle was still drivable.
A short time later a Trooper with the Michigan State Police Wayland Post observed the suspect vehicle on US-131. The Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle however it fled from the State Trooper as well. The State Trooper pursued the vehicle until the suspect crashed his vehicle into the median just north of the Martin exit.
After the vehicle crashed, the suspect fled on foot from his vehicle into southbound traffic and attempted to car jack a south bound vehicle, forcing his way into the driver’s seat of the vehicle as it was stopped on the expressway.
Additional officers arrived on scene and were able to assist in removing the suspect from the victims vehicle prior to him being able to gain control of the vehicle and flee.
The subject was lodged on multiple criminal charges as well as on outstanding warrants. His name and charges are being held until his arraignment.
