LAKE CITY – A 37-year old Lansing man, John Lynn Major, was arraigned on Feb. 20 in Missaukee County 84th District Court on one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death.
Major was given a PR bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on Feb. 29.
Michigan State police said on Monday, Jan. 15, a trooper from Cadillac was dispatched to a hit-and run crash involving a pickup truck and a person on a bicycle.
The bicyclist, a 36-year-old-man from Shelby, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Munson Medical center in Traverse City for several days.
MSP say the bicyclist was eastbound on the shoulder of M-55 near Lachance road when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The victim said the truck slowed down after hitting him but then fled east towards Lake City. The victim was wearing a headlamp and reflective high visibility vest and his bicycle had reflective markers on it.
A tip was received and troopers located the vehicle involved in a tow yard in Alma. MSP said an arrest warrant was issued for Major who turned himself in at the Missaukee Jail.
