With temperatures nearing the low 50s on Saturday, Dec. 9, the Village of Lawrence welcomed the holiday season with a variety of events. Santa paid an afternoon visit to the Lawrence Branch of the Van Buren District Library, where he greeted children and had photos taken with them. The library also hosted kids’ crafts activities for several hours on Saturday afternoon. A light Up Parade was held that evening that officially ushered Santa to Lawrene Village Park, where he flipped the switch to light the Christmas Tree. Music was provided by Lawrence High School Band students. A craft show was held at the Lawrence Township Hall. Ice sculpting that had been originally scheduled, was cancelled due to the warm temperatures.
