The LaFayette High School alumni “Took It 2DA STREETZ” last week for seven days in celebration of homecoming.
The 2023 LaFayette Bulldog Alumni Homecoming week kicked off last Monday. This year’s theme was “Taking It 2Da STREETZ!!!
This year’s homecoming set an amazing history for LaFayette High School Alumni.
All 54 classes that ever graced the halls of LaFayette High School participated in the festivities. The class of 1997 hosted the homecoming festivities this year.
The week started out with a Mix and Mingle Monday where the alumni traveled down to GoodTimes Bowling Alley in Auburn. The classes teamed up and competed with bowling, fellowshipping, fun and foods. LaFayette High Alumni Homecoming 2023 Bowling Champions are Classes 81, 82, 83 and 88! Total score: 1181.
TurnUp Tuesday sent alumni back down 431 to Opelika to Level One Bar and Lounge.
This was a spot of dancing, hanging out, fun and food. The lounge was packed to its capacity.
Wild’N Out Wednesday the alumni were at Wild Wing Cafe In Opelika for karaoke night!
On TikTok Thursday alumni had to upload a Bulldog video to TikTok.
The annual homecoming parade was the largest parade for the LaFayette High School Bulldogs ever! There were over 40 plus cars participating with Mr. Fletcher Carr leading the parade as the Grand Marshal.
Mr. Fletcher Carr is a LaFayette High School alum and retired bus driver for 57 years. 92-2 to be exact is his bus number for the Chambers County School System in LaFayette.
Immediately following the parade was the annual community pep rally held on the band field. The annual homecoming bonfire followed. This was the first year that the homecoming festivities are a little summer time earlier than normal and the weather was still in the 90s last week. But, that still didn’t stop the crowd from coming out showing their love and support at the bonfire.
Fire It Up Friday was 2023 homecoming game day, tailgating, and the alumni after game party. The Bulldog Stadium was already filled at about 3pm with grills smoking, music playing and people hanging out everywhere enjoying and tailgating. The Bulldogs hosted the Barbour County Jaguars with a victory region homecoming win of 30-0 Bulldogs.
On Set It Off Saturday, The Alumni Picnic kicked off at 10 am-4:30pm. The PEOPLE…The PEOPLE….The PEOPLE!!! There were People, tents, grills, fish fryers, food trucks and vehicles EVERYWHERE as far as you could see them! This was a huge successful event for the LaFayette High School Alumni. One of the Biggest ever!
The LaFayette High School alumni hosted a block party in downtown LaFayette right after the picnic starting at 7pm until 10:30pm. The downtown square was blocked off from traffic and the DJ was set up right on the sidewalk directly in front of the courthouse! The STREETZ was completely covered with people!!! There were standing room only on the square. Line dancing, chanting and just the alumni enjoying and celebrating the homecoming festivities. Food trucks were set up.
Taking It 2DA STREETZ finally came down to a close of Day 7 with Sunday worship.
