Lawton girl runners take 12th

LAWTON – Coach Kris Bullock’s Lawton cross country teams ran on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Michigan Rustbuster Invitational with the girls taking 12th and the boys not scoring as a team.
For Lawton, Anika Weurding was 44th (22:52.28), Hadley Camp 45th (22:56.4). Ashley Waite 67th (24:14.11), Miley Torres 75th (24:37.9). Addisyn Price 100th (26:51.88).
For the boys, Noah Withers was 64th (19:37.5), Lucas Grear was 97th (21;24.5), Levi Books 120th (23:48.59) and Mateo Oertel 125th (25:14.59).

Soccer
Coach Chris Chapman’s soccer team lost 6-1 to Kalamazoo Hackett on Aug. 28 at home.
“It was a physical game but I’m proud that our boys never gave up,” Chapman said. “Once again I think we showed in the first half that we can hang with just about anyone. We won’t dwell on this game and we will place all our focus on Parchment next.”
Lawton will be at Parchment on Sept. 6. Lawton is 1-2-0 overall.

Volleyball
Coach Kristin Burk’s volleyball team enters September with an 0-3 record. Next action is at Kalamazoo Hackett on Sept. 12.
At the recent Lawton Invitational, Lawton lost to St. Joseph Our Lady of the Lake Catholic 21-12, 21-10 and split with Gobles 21-14, 21-13. At the Vicksburg Invitational, Lawton lost to Niles Brandywine 25-7, 25-7, lost to Stevensville Lakeshore 25-11, 25-22 and split with Vicksburg 25-20, 24-25.
