COMSTOCK – On Tuesday, Dec. 12, an incident occurred at Comstock High School during a junior varsity and varsity boys’ basketball game that led the building to be placed in a lockdown.
In a press release, the Lawrence School District said, “This is the latest in a number of altercations when Lawrence has competed against Comstock over the last 13 months.”
On Wednesday, Dec. 13, Lawrence administration met with student athletes who attended the games at Comstock High School during the lockdown. The press release further stated, “LHS staff have been intentional about providing our students with the time and space to process the traumatic events during their instructional day. In addition to conferencing and checking in with our students, we would like to provide assurance that a review of our existing policies and procedures is currently underway and additional safety measures will be implemented for both home and away competition play. It is important to express that Lawrence Public Schools holds student safety as a primary priority.”
